Trust Board election latest
With the Trust board election process now underway, board members Richard Blight and John Demellweek have stated their intention to leave the Trust board at the AGM on 24th November 2012. This means there are five board places to be filled by the upcoming election process. Any Trust members who are interested in standing should contact secretary@argylefanstrust.com or download a nomination form from the Trust’s 2012 Election area on our web site, and return it by October 17th. You need just two members to nominate you.
Richard Blight was on the ISC board and then returned in February 2012 with John Demellweek through the Trust’s first full election. Both have been responsible for managing the Trust memberships throughout.
On his decision to step down at the AGM, Richard said ‘For the last 22 months Plymouth Argyle and working for the Trust has become a very large part of my life. My paid job includes being on emergency call 25% of my spare time and the Trust has taken the vast majority of the rest. The list of hobbies, maintenance jobs around the house, etc. that haven’t been attended to is now very long. The wife and rest of my family have been neglected (so the wife and five year old niece tell me) so I’ve taken the very hard decision to stand down.’
Rich added ‘I’m very proud of how far the Trust has come in the last 12 months, particularly the administration of the membership. This could not have done without the invaluable help of John Demellweek and Sally Snow. A big thank you must go to them. I’ve enjoyed working with the rest of the board and feel that in the last 22 months I’ve made a lot of friends at Argyle. I shall continue to support the Trust and it’s aims but it’s now time for me to stand aside and let others, who may have more time, move the Trust forward. COYG!’
John Demellweek said ‘I have enjoyed my time on the Trust board and all of its challenges. However, due to ever increasing work, family and other commitments, I have very reluctantly decided to step down from the Trust board. I shall continue to support the Trust and its aims and I would like to thank all of those fans that have supported the Trust and urge you all to continue to do so in the future.’
A Trust spokesman said ‘Rich and John have done tremendous work for the Trust over the past two years, both at board level and as the leaders of the membership team. We would like to give them the greatest thanks for their invaluable contribution, and wish them well as they enjoy more free time with their friends and family.’
Rich and John will continue to manage memberships up until the AGM. Any members interested in helping with memberships should contact Trust Secretary Linda Fleming at secretary@argylefanstrust.com.
