As we turn the page on the calendar to a new year, it’s time to reflect on the year that has passed.
It’s been another twelve months that’s been overshadowed by the pandemic but brightened by watching our team playing an exciting and dynamic brand of football.
At the halfway point in the 21/22 season, Argyle are riding high in League One.
A manager may have departed, but another stepped forward to fill his shoes quickly.
Continuity breeds confidence, and there is now an extremely effective management structure in place from top to bottom at Home Park.
Simon Hallett, Andrew Parkinson and Neil Dewsnip can take great pride in how the Club handled the shock of an unplanned managerial change.
Despite the continued chaos of coronavirus, Argyle remains in fine financial fettle, setting an example to other clubs for transparency, engagement and communication with the fanbase.
The Academy continues to add promising new players to the Pilgrims squad. The Women’s team is also making good progress, and the Argyle Community Trust continues to do excellent outreach work in the Plymouth area.
Our identity is clearly established, and the future looks bright.
The Argyle Fans’ Trust continues to be a critical friend of the Club, and that will continue in ’22.
We have worked closely with the Club on several issues, most notably the Fan-Led Review of Football Governance, providing advice and guidance at Board level.
The Fan-Led Review highlighted Argyle’s “excellent approach” to financial transparency, something the AFT had campaigned about in previous years.
It’s a testament to all involved to see that comment about our Club now.
The AFT will continue developing and extending our contributions to Argyle being a successful and well-run football club.
Together, we will achieve our ambition to be a Championship club again, sooner than later!
