The Argyle Fans’ Trust were saddened to hear yesterday’s news that our fellow Devon club Torquay United has entered administration. We of course have memories from the recent past of what that is like, how terrible it feels, how it affects everyone at and linked to the club.
We of course wish them the best and are talking to the Torquay United Supporters’ Trust (TUST) to offer whatever help we can. The AFT, along with Exeter, Torquay and many other fan trusts is also a member of the regional South West supporter trust group which is discussing a range of ideas. Now is a time when we must come together.
Obviously many Argyle fans are very disappointed with our recent results, albeit against some very good teams, but the plight the Gulls find themselves in puts things into perspective, and reminds us how far we have come since our dark days. We should all try to help our friends in yellow in whatever way we can.
How can Argyle Fans help?
One immediate thing we can do, if not travelling to Boro tomorrow, is to turn up to Torquay’s home game with Aveley, which is a 3pm kickoff. Buy a ticket, spend money in the ground, and help them raise much needed cash.
We spoke to TUST about tickets for tomorrow. It’s best to buy them online at https://torquayunited.com/ and then print at home or have them on your phone, else you have to queue at the ticket office on the day – you can’t pay with cash at the turnstiles.
You can also join or donate to TUST, who will then use the money in the best possible way to help the club. You can find their details at https://www.tust.co.uk/.
Plans for a Fans United match?
We also expect a date to be set for a full Fans United event, just as we had at Argyle during administration, when so many fans from other clubs joined us at Home Park on 24 September 2011. We’ll relay news of a date as and when it is set.
