Argyle Fans Trust ISC response to PAFC staff statement 28.2.11

 

Set out below is a press release just sent out on behalf of the Plymouth Argyle staff and the Argyle Fans’ Trust response

 

“PLYMOUTH Argyle staff held a meeting on Monday, February 28, following the non-payment of the February pay-roll at Home Park.

The staff believe that the current board and potential new owners should recognise that it is through goodwill and professionalism of the staff that the club continues to function on a day-to-day basis, as well as on match-day.

All staff are prepared to go the extra mile to play their part in the survival of a football club which they are have in their hearts and are proud to represent.

They are doing this despite the fact that:

i) they are not being paid, a situation which is particularly hard on the many sole breadwinners;

ii) their jobs are in greater jeopardy than ever before, especially following the 10-point deduction penalty.

The strain and pressure that the uncertainty about the future and the inability to meet individual financial commitments breeds is both unhealthy and unacceptable.

The staff have been disappointed to witness recent public messages from various members of the Argyle Board which apparently conflict, not only with each other, but with what they have been told by Independent Advisor Peter Ridsdale.

The staff support a swift resolution to the financial problems for the benefit of Plymouth Argyle Football Club and therefore urge all parties to work together assiduously to bring about a speedy conclusion to the current situation.”

 

Response:

 

The Argyle Fans Trust would like to place on record, once again, its total support for the Argyle staff and players at this very difficult time for the club. The club’s Directors are responsible ensuring that salaries are paid and the fact that they have been unable or unwilling to meet their most basic obligation is nothing more than a ‘kick in the teeth’ for the loyalty, beyond all reasonable measure, that the staff and players have shown in the most trying of circumstances.

 

This unacceptable position reaffirms the view of the Argyle Fans’ Trust that the future of the club should not lie in the hands of any current directors, however, we await a positive response from Mr Ridsdale to our request to meet bidders for the club to discuss how the Trust can help play its part in its revitalisation.
